We can’t talk about tacos without talking about margaritas.
I aspire to make my Margaritas taste as good as those I have had at Tio’s Tacos.

I am not at that level yet, but I’m getting closer with every experiment. Here’s where I am to date. They are pretty tasty!
This recipe features Tajin, a proprietary spice blend found in many Southwest markets. Substituting Tajin on the rim in place of the traditional coarse salt is an innovation I have only seen at Tio’s Tacos. It raises Margaritas to a different level.

Lemon Margarita

Ingredients
- Lemon and lime wedges for lining the glass and garnish
- Tajin and a sprinkle of sugar to salt the rim.
- 3 ounces Silver tequila I like 1800 Silver for this recipe
- 2 ounces Cointreau or Boll's Triple Sec
- 2 ounces Lemon juice, freshly squeezed
- 1 ounce Agave syrup
Instructions
- First, prepare the glass:
- Combine the Tajin and sugar on a small plate or saucer.

- Run a lime wedge around the rim of the glass.
- Dip the rim of the glass into the Tajin mixture, making sure the entire rim of the glass is covered.
- Set aside while you mix the cocktail.
- Combine tequila, Cointreau, lemon juice and syrup in a cocktail shaker filled with ice and shake well.
- Strain into prepared margarita glass and add ice.
- Garnish with lemon and lime wedges
- (and if you like a little heat, a slice of jalapeno).
